Will COVID-19 Vaccine Resisters Block New Jersey’s Path to Herd Immunity?
Vaccine resisters come in two forms — total no-go and on-the-fence. New Jersey’s efforts to vaccinate 4.7 million people by July will likely focus more on convincing on-the-fencers. On Monday, Gov. Phil Murphy launched “Operation Jersey Summer,” a massive outreach campaign that will trade vaccine shots for beer, send 900 volunteers and big vaccination vans out into pockets of resistance in the state, to convince hold-outs to take the vaccine. Biden Aims to Vaccinate 70% of American Adults by July 4
President Joe Biden on Tuesday set a new vaccination goal to deliver at least one shot to 70% of adult Americans by July Fourth as he tackles the vexing problem of winning over the “doubters.” Demand for vaccines has dropped off markedly nationwide, with some states leaving more than half their available doses unordered. The Biden administration for the first time is moving to shift doses from states with weaker demand to areas with stronger interest in the shots. (The Associated Press)

Pfizer Expects to Seek Vaccine Authorization this September for Kids between 2 and 11
Pfizer expects to apply for emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration for its COVID-19 vaccine for children between 2 and 11 in September, the company said during an earnings call on Tuesday. A study to examine the safety and efficacy of the vaccine among those between 6 months and 11 years old is ongoing. Additionally, Pfizer said it’s expecting to seek authorization for its vaccine among children between 6 months and 2 years in the fourth quarter of 2021. (Yahoo! News)
